It might taste OK, but it certainly wouldn't be good for you.
In the same way, human food is not balanced
to suit dogs - it can even cause diarrhea. Let's face it - the last thing you need at the end of a workday is a sick dog!
Feed your dog the right type of food and put the bounce back into your
best friend!
Proper nutrition will benefit you and
your dog
Think about this.....
You can buy food made for dogs at your local pet store or grocery store. It contains
vitamins and
nutrients that dogs need to stay healthy. Ask your veterinarian to
recommend some good brands to you.
It is important however to choose the right dog food for your dog!
There
are many kinds of dog food available and not all of them are suitable
for your dog - be sure to read the label!
When choosing a dish for your dog it is important to remember that
although plastic bowls are more colorful, if your dog is prone to chewing
things, you may end up having to replace it soon after you've bought it. A stainless steel bowl on the other hand will
also be much easier to keep
clean. Always remember to give your dog his food in a clean bowl.
He can become very sick from the germs found in a dirty dish - avoid
unnecessary trips to the vet!
A happier, more active best friend....
Most people feed
their dogs once each morning, usually due to convenience. However, it has been found that it is
actually better for your dog if you split the meal into two separate,
smaller meals
- one in the morning and one in the evening. Your dog will not be as full
and will be able to run, exercise and be a much happier friend for you and
your family to enjoy.
In the case of young puppies, they should be fed three or four meals a
day. Puppies need that much food to grow into healthy adults.
DO NOT feed your
dog left over chicken or steak bones! These can choke your dog
or cause
damage to the inside of his throat and stomach. Apart from the obvious
risk
to your dog's life, having these items
removed can be a very costly procedure.
